Director Roles and Responsibilities

This is an informational document that describes the roles and responsibilities of each of the positions on the (ISC)2 US Military Germany Chapter (hereinafter referred to as Chapter) Board of Directors (hereinafter referred to as Board). It is intended as a summary to accompany announcements of chapter elections.

Under the current Bylaws, the Board of Directors consists of the following positions:

* Positions recognized as Chapter Officers by (ISC)2
** Advisory position only, no voting rights.

President

The President is the leader of the chapter and is the official representative of the chapter to (ISC)2 and other external agencies, including authorizing agencies such as MWR. The President is responsible for guiding chapter operations, setting policy and establishing Chapter strategies (in coordination with [ICW] the Board), and insuring all suspenses and required submissions are met. The president nominates committee members with the advice and consent of the Board. The president officially represents the Chapter in establishing relationships with other like associations, industry, and government agencies. Back to top

Vice President

The Vice President acts as the president in his/her absence and assists the president on other specified duties. May be assigned to lead and coordinate special projects. Back to top

Treasurer

The Treasurer is the primary financial agent for the Board and the Chapter and is accountable for all Chapter finances. The treasurer oversees all financial operations, income, expenditures, and obligations of the Chapter. The treasurer is the primary action officer for audits of chapter operations. The treasurer prepares chapter budgets and advises the Board on financial implications of planned activities. The treasurer establishes and operates all banking, book-keeping and record-keeping operations for the Chapter and provides regular reports to the Board. Back to top

Secretary

The secretary is the scribe and archivist for the Chapter. The secretary records, publishes, and archives the minutes of all chapter meetings along with associated documents, and maintains records of the composition of the Board of Directors. The secretary is responsible for the inventory of all chapter property and is responsible for submission of all routine reports to external agencies such as (ISC)2 and MWR. The secretary schedules the Board and Chapter meetings, establishes the location for such meetings, and, ICW the President and Board members, prepares and publishes the agenda for meetings. The secretary works closely with the Webmaster and Data Committee to insure all chapter documentation is properly maintained on the Chapter website and long-term storage. Back to top

Membership Chair

The membership chair may serve alone, or as head of a committee (as determined by the Board). The membership chair is the lead for all membership recruitment/retention activities and is the face of the Board and Chapter to outside agencies regarding membership issues. The membership chair maintains rosters of Chapter and Board membership, reports same to external agencies, submits Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits to (ISC)2 on behalf of Chapter members for attendance at Chapter and Board meetings and at Chapter events, as well as for other qualifying work on behalf of the Chapter as directed by the Board. Provides Certificates of Attendance to non-(ISC)2 members for attendance at Chapter Events. The membership chair actively engages the membership to solicit items for chapter presentations, to receive issues from the membership, and to promote Chapter member participation in the Chapter activities. Webmaster

The Webmaster is the administrator for all the Chapter's digital and online activities. The Webmaster administers the Chapter web and email sites, and is responsible for content, security, delegation of permissions and rights, and continual security updates of these sites. The Webmaster is the administrator of the Chapter long-term storage (currently Google Drive), establishing security and enabling permissions to Board members as appropriate. The webmaster serves as chairman of the Data Architecture and Governance Committee. The Webmaster advises the Board on digital presence security and strategy. Back to top

Event Coordinator

The event coordinator is the primary Board position to coordinate, scheduleand arrange logistics for Chapter events. The event coordinator is theprimary contact for vendors and outside agencies regarding presentations sponsored by the Chapter, and ICW the corporate advisor, seeks out agencies that wish to provide presentations of interest to the members. For all Chapter sponsored events the Event coordinator will coordinate with the event site regarding all logistics (including reservations, AV equipment, room layout and table arrangements). The event coordinator establishes the event in the chapter digital app (Wild Apricot) and is responsible for initial publicity regarding the event, as well as the RSVP list on Wild Apricot, and managing member check-in and registration at events. The Event coordinator works closely with the Communications chair to publicize Chapter events, as well as with the treasurer for events sponsored by the Chapter. Back to top

Community Outreach

Community outreach is the primary agent to, on behalf of the Chapter, actively seek out and execute activities for the chapter to present, operate, or sponsor, that enables the Chapter to actively participate in the greater community in which we live and operate. Such items include scholarships, stipendiums and sponsorship of activities in local schools and charities, presentations to our greater external communities that emphasize information security and the Chapter's support of this. Corporate Advisor

The Corporate Advisor is the primary point of contact between the Chapter and corporate entities.

The Corporate Advisor reaches out to relevant corporations for new sponsorship opportunities and maintains the relationship between the Chapter and the current corporate sponsors. The Corporate Advisor works closely with the Chapter membership and the Events chair to identify and schedule corporate presentations that are relevant to the Chapter memberships interests. Communications Chair

The Communications Chair may serve alone, or as head of a committee (as determined by the Board). This position is the public relations director for the Chapter, communicating with the Chapter membership and external agencies to publicize Chapter events, activities, and items of interest to our Information Security community. The Communications chair manages the Chapter Facebook page and other social media presences. Actively publicizes Chapter events by posting social media and physical advertisements within the community. Coordinates with Webmaster, Events chair, and Board to develop strategies to publicize Chapter activities and items of community interest. Back to top

Board Members At Large

The Members at Large serve as an additional membership on the Board on behalf of the Chapter membership. They are initially charged with no specific duties, other than to represent the interests of the Chapter membership. The members at large are voting members of the Board, and may serve in positions and lead projects and committees as designated by the Board. Back to top
